A man who stalked his estranged wife after she left him - breaching a protection order six times and creeping onto her property at night to install GPS trackers onto her car so he could monitor her movements - has been sentenced to community detention.

A police investigation is underway into a three-car smash near Moerewa on Monday night which claimed the lives of two Northlanders.
They were Maudie Dianne Pickering, aged 64, and Iharaira Trevon Maxi Hoterene-Rakete, aged 25. Both were from the Whangārei area.

A boy hit by a spring that flew off a stockcar and into the crowd in a freak accident at the Meeanee Speedway on Saturday night is recovering well.
An investigation has begun into the incident during Saturday s racing, which included the first demolition derby of the 2020/2021 season, the Hawke s Bay Streetstock Championships and races for in the saloon, superstock, stockcar and ministock classes.
A St John ambulance took young speedway fan Maddox Lui to Hawke s Bay Hospital with concussion after he was hit by the spring while he watched the action.
